First 3 verses only:

The hummingbird's so precious
Like a diamond in the rough
They are very little
But they can be real tough.

I once saw you painted
On a collector's plate
Just like in reality
From a flower you ate.

Everyday to the kitchen
Window you would come
Peering at us through the window
We could hear you hum. . . .

"I read 'Hummingbird', 'Lionel Lion', and 'Akbar and Ellie'. they were all catchy, easy to visualize and colorful. The 'Hummingbird' was most educational in describing how the birds look, eat, survive! It was about hummingbirds in general, and the learning factor was high. Every story had parts that I particularly liked. In 'Hummingbird' I liked 'Everyday to the kitchen window you would come, peering at us through the window we could hear you hum.' That's a very charming image.- Laura Hegre, Mpls., MN

"I just love your descriptive prose in this one." - Sharon Planer, Annandale, MN
